Weekly Charters:

June 25, 2023-July 2, 2023

This week was a weird week of fishing, During our fishing charters for the week. The fishing was very spotty. The Morning bite was hit or miss. First off the lady fish bite was extremely hard to find. This is tough because fresh lady fish is my go to bait for Reds, Snook, and Trout. I always start me charters off with taking a 45 minutes to catch fresh lady fish. it allows the clients to catch their bait while letting them have a fun little fight reeling something in right off the bat. They were hard to find, that’s for sure, normal spots were not working. After we did find some ladies my go too spots were not producing. The fish were really making me work this week. On my first charter I finally found a good school of reds and we doubled up and lost one and caught one. We also were catching small snook, which is great for future fishing when those bad boys get bigger. My afternoon charter however was not a total disaster we caught some little fish, but we could not hook into anything picture worthy or in slot to bring home for dinner. I have come to realize that the afternoon bite this time of year is very tough and I always let my clients know that, I always want to be strait up and forward with them. I am not out here just trying to collect a pay check. I truly get a joy out of watching people reel in their first big flats fish. It is like I am the one reeling it in and most of the time I am hooting and hollering more than the clients are. I believe from my experience that the reason the afternoon bite is not as good is because it is so hot. Even though these are tropical fish, they do not like that 90 degree water and head out for cooler water. But hey, the famous saying goes, they don’t call it catching, it is called fishing. Let’s get out there and tighten those lines and catch some fish this week.
